Residential Parking Procedures Updated
The Wooster Police Department is updating the procedures and regulations for Downtown Residential Parking permits. A new registration form must be filled out at the WPD by March 31, as all residential permits will be void as of April 1. Permit holders should bring their current permit when applying for a new permit at the department. The following information must be provided when applying for a permit: 1. Proof of residency (i.e. copy of lease) 2. Name, address and phone number 3. Vehicle description and license plate number 4. Landlord's name and contact information Any changes in information must be updated on the original form. A tenant may obtain a $25-per-year permit for each vehicle registered in his or her name. Also, city ordinances prohibit on-street parking between 2-6 a.m. The residential permit allows residents to park in off-street city lots overnight and in an off-street city lot three-hour-parking space lots during regular business hours. Anyone in violation of the ordinances will be subject to all parking regulations and will be issued a ticket accordingly. It also is the responsibility of the permit holder to renew the permit on an annual basis and to turn in the permit if they move out of the downtown parking district.
