Ron and Carol Weaver Feted At Retirement Open House

Crowds of well wishers made their way to Ron's Color Shop on East Liberty Street last week to give their best wishes to Ron and Carolyn Weaver, who are retiring after 45 years on business in downtown Wooster.
The couple, who will be closing their shop at the end of June, reminisced about their time in business and talked of their plans for retirement.
Muddy Waters Cafe provided its biggest brownie to date for the Weavers and all their friends to enjoy.

For more about the Weavers and their shop, you can read a recent Daily Record article by just clicking here.

LuK USA to Sponsor Kids' Day on the Square June 7

If you can climb on it, jump on it, crawl under it or create it – chances are it will be part of Kids’ Day on the Square on Saturday, June 7.

To mark the beginning of summer vacation and the end of another school year, Main Street Wooster, Inc. and all of downtown Wooster will welcome children (and their parents) to the southern quadrants of Public Square from 1-4 p.m. for this event, which is made possible through the generous sponsorship of LuK USA.

Kids’ Day gives kids the chance to do what they do best – be active, creative and curious. It’s a great chance to get up close and personal to the equipment brought in by the Wooster Fire and Wooster Police departments and meet some of the officers and firefighters. In addition, a HumVee will be brought in by the Ohio Army National Guard, which has a recruiting office on West Old Lincoln Way. Guardsmen also will man football toss and basketball toss games for up and coming athletes.

Also new to this year’s event will be fun health activities and games from Family Chiropractic. The always popular kiddie tractor pull will hit South Market Street, while every child is welcome to burn off some steam with a good round of jumping on the inflatables provided by Clear Picture, Inc.

For the smaller set, there will be lots of Little Tikes vehicles to ride and a mini obstacle course nearby. Older children can find their own outlet in the YMCA’s obstacle course or a good kick or two at the Tracy’s Karate booth. After tossing bean bags, drawing with chalk and making paper doily flowers, the kids can enjoy some refreshments and giveaways while visiting the animals or watching a skateboarder or exhibitions by members of the Wooster Skating Academy.
All kinds of clowns, characters and even a larger-than-life pineapple or two will be around for a photo or a hug and giveaways will allow every child to take something home as a memento.

Some of the county’s top elementary and middle school students will be recognized with the All-American Kids Awards presented by Wooster Mayor Bob Breneman. Local banks have generously donated savings bonds to help reward these students for a job well done.
And there’s so much more!
